About Us

The Franklin Park Development Tenants Association (F.P.D.T.A.) emerged in 1992, amid the height of the Boston City crime spree and drug infestation. Frustrated with the current conditions, community member banded together and launched a bold initiative in direct response to the swirling crisis. Out of this initiative was birthed the Franklin Park Development Tenants Association who’s solution was to organize a program that would work to address issues that exist in education, community empowerment, and economic development. From the outset, the mission of (FPDTA) was to enhance the quality of life for its residents and surrounding neighborhoods. As part of the response, the FPDTA launched a summer camp program known as sunrise summer camp. This summer program focused on providing a unique academic and recreational experience that brought with it an eclectic mix of activities ranging from music, art, technology and the sciences. The association took it a step further and organized a budget that would fund a team of camp counselors and a teen supervisor (ages 15-18) of monitoring and carrying out daily summer camp activities.
